The Canadian Independent Adjusters’ Association (CIAA) has inaugurated Mary Charman as its president for the 2010-11 year.
Charman assumed the role from outgoing president Patti Kernaghan during the CIAA’s 26th Annual Conference in Victoria on Aug. 28.
Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Charman started working as an adjuster the very next business day after graduating from high school. She is the manager of Crawford & Company (Canada)’s Newmarket and Barrie, Ontario branches.
Charman told delegates at the annual general meeting that she was eager to continue the work started by her predecessor. “In my mind, [Patti] was one of the most successful and aggressive presidents that we’ve had,” she said.
Also during the evening, the association presented the following awards:
• Reno Daigle was awarded Honourary Life Member;
• Teri Mitchell was awarded a Fellow of the Canadian Independent Adjusters’ Association (FCIAA) designation; and
• Miles Barber was honoured for his loyal commitment and dedication to achieving the goals of the association.
