Calgary-based brokerage Godfrey-Morrow Insurance has launched InsureMy, a new brokerage and website focused particularly on auto insurance telematics products in Ontario and Alberta.

InsureMy is currently set up to offer Intact’s telematics program to Ontario auto insurance customers.

It is also in talks with the Independent Broker Resources Inc. (IBRI), the for-profit arm of the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO), to offer the usage-based insurance solution the organization will have in partnership with telematics provider Ingenie.

In Alberta, the firm is also working on a “time-based insurance” offering, also using telematics technology, for commercial auto insurance customers.

Overall, in both Alberta (where telematics offerings for personal lines aren’t yet approved by regulators) and Ontario, InsureMy is looking to act as a source of information for consumers about what telematics programs are all about and answer questions around privacy concerns, according to Hugh McTavish, the brokerage’s president.

“We are very excited to launch our InsureMy brokerage services in both Alberta and Ontario, two of Canada’s premier insurance markets,” McTavish commented.

“While the use of telematics in the global insurance market isn’t new, our putting it to work in a tangible way for Canadians is,” he said.

“We expect to make a difference and change the face of insurance. Being at the forefront of change will allow us to continue to improve and evolve in partnership with our markets and regulators.”

Editor’s Note: This article originally referred to IBRI’s “Ingenie usage-based insurance product.” Ingenie is in fact an independent provider of telematics offerings and is in partnership with IBRI for a usage-based insurance offering in Ontario.
