The Safety Group offices in Ontario and Alberta have merged with Jones DesLauriers Insurance Management Inc. (JDIMI), creating what JDIMI calls “Canada’s first mega-trucking insurance brokerage the largest privately-held trucking insurance firm in the nation.”
Jones DesLauriers Insurance Management Inc. (JDIMI) is among the largest privately-held insurance brokerages in Canada. The Safety Group (Safety) is a specialty brokerage for trucking insurance.
The trucking business of both firms will take on the name Safety Insurance Group, a specialty division under the JDIMI group of companies.
“The name signifies the coming together of two leading complimentary brokerages, with a mutual objective to protect the transportation industry,” JDIMI says in a press release. “Once competitors in the insurance marketplace, the sales and management teams will now unite to form an unstoppable insurance force that is driven to safeguard Canadian trucking companies operating throughout North America.”
The new, “one-stop shop” entity includes customized risk management and insurance solutions, fleet safety consulting and 24-hour claims assistance nationwide. The firm’s 11 offices include more than 200 employees servicing new and existing accounts.
Along with Glenn Murray, partner at JDIMI and Safety, Safety president and CEO Steve Palmer will continue to lead the company. “We are pleased to have joined an established firm that shares our passion for the trucking industry, the main focus of our business” says Palmer. “Whether insuring one truck or a fleet of 2,500, we will continue to leverage a history of strong insurer relationships, specialty products and value-added services that our clients will find mutually beneficial.”
