SGI Canada, in conjunction with Mastercom Consulting Ltd. and Zycomp, has successfully completed a download transaction providing a no-touch inclusion of an insurance declaration (“Dec”) page attachment.
A Dec page is typically the first page of an insurance policy, although a policyholder can receive the page as a standalone item. It provides basic information about the insurance policy.
The ability to transmit Dec page attachments seamlessly and electronically from an insurance company to a brokerage has long been an outstanding requirement in the property and casualty industry. A CSIO standard developed for such attachments was released in June 2010.
In the SGI Canada example, the Dec page attachment was stripped out and moved to the client’s database automatically with no broker intervention.
“As a company that is always looking at ways to make it easier for brokers across Canada to do business with us, we are proud to be the first insurer in Canada to support this new technology,” says Andrew Cartmell, president and CEO of SGI Canada. “We have many innovative, progressive brokers who are constantly looking at ways to be more efficient in managing their business, and providing alternatives to handling less paper is one way we can help brokers do that.”
Steve Zylak, president of Zycomp, calls this “an important step forward in providing the independent insurance broker with a competitive advantage against direct writers.”
Using the same CSIO standard, Zycomp has also developed the ability to automatically attach a PDF image of the Quote Summary/Quote Detail to the customer file as part of the quoting integration within their system.
