Stewart-Greenslade Insurance Brokers Ltd. has purchased N.D. Tyler Ltd. of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, according to an online report in The Daily Graphic.
“We’re very excited,” Brent Gilbert, president of Stewart-Greenslade, told Shannon VanRaes of the Portage La Prairie newspaper. “N.D. Tyler’s book of business was a really good fit with Stewart-Greenslade.
“Both of our firms have had a long association as brokers with the Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Co. and the transfer of Tyler’s Wawanesa clients to Stewart-Greenslade should be seamless.”
N.D. Tyler Ltd.’s Portage La Prairie office was established in 1968.
According to The Daily Graphic, the acquisition will become effective Mar. 1, 2007. The deal is expected to increase Stewart-Greenslade’s client list by about 800 people.
George Miller, vice-president of Stewart-Greenslade, said his company has sent letters to all clients to inform them about the upcoming changes. “We want to make sure people know where to go,” he is quoted as saying.
Jerry Weselowski, president of N.D. Tyler, will join Stewart-Greenslade for one year after the sale to assist with the transition. Weselowski has been in the insurance business for 27 years
“We were very pleased that Jerry agreed to come on-board with us,” Gilbert is quoted as saying in The Daily Graphic. ” He was very close to his clients and his advice and counsel over the transition period will be invaluable to us.”
