Students Against Impaired Driving (OSAID) has announced a major sponsorship from Aviva Canada and that Aviva is the first corporate sponsor since OSAID’s inception in 1987 to provide core funding to OSAID Inc. According to OSAID, this funding will allow OSAID to maintain a full-time staff person to run the provincial office that manages 5,000 volunteers and 300 OSAID chapters in Ontario. “The Aviva sponsorship will allow us to focus on our goal of recruiting members and give us the opportunity to produce quality programming and promotions,” says Matt Evans, OSAID Provincial Coordinator. “In addition to the financial sponsorship Aviva will be an integral part of our organization, sitting on our Board, and offering advisory services as well.” OSAID reaches more than 300,000 students annually. “We are proud of our sponsorship of OSAID as a positive way of giving back to communities in Ontario,” says Igal Mayer, President and CEO, Aviva Canada. “OSAID educates young adults about impaired driving and empowers them to take positive action with their peers. This is an important issue as impaired driving is still the number one killer of teens. At Aviva we take care of what is important to our customers and employees, and feel it is our responsibility to raise awareness and help educate Canadians on issues that help make their lives safer.”
