RBC Insurance, with support from Hockey Canada and the Hockey Hall of Fame, is recognizing Canada’s most dedicated hockey volunteers as part of its third annual RBC Local Hockey Leaders program.
Thirteen RBC Local Hockey Leaders – one from each regional Hockey Canada branch – will be recognized in a special display at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Each will receive $10,000 towards grassroots hockey in their community and a signed Team Canada jersey. A banner recognizing the achievement will be raised in the winner’s local arena.
“RBC Insurance is very proud to reward Canada’s ‘behind-the-scenes’ hockey volunteers,” RBC Insurance President and CEO Neil Skelding said in a press release. “The efforts of these selfless individuals often go unnoticed and seldom result in trophies or awards, so we are proud to turn the spotlight on their efforts through the RBC Local Hockey Leaders program.
“Hockey is an important part of Canadian communities, and volunteers are the ones who keep it going.”
RBC initiated the RBC Local Hockey Leaders program in 2003-2004 to recognize individuals who dedicate their time to hockey at the community level. To date, the program has donated more than $300,000 to grassroots hockey initiatives across Canada.
The 2006 leaders include:
Gregory Rowe (NT), Vince Harriott (BC), Randy Bouvier (AB), Dennis Todd (SK), Eileen Swerdyliak (MB), Tom Fairbairn (ON), Irwin Nicol (ON), Marion Budarick (ON), Ghislain Dumais (PQ), Dave Wheaton (NB), Sherry Ritcey (NS), Cedric Gallant (PEI), and Eric Clarke (NF).

Kernaghan Adjusters has appointed Yvonne Spencer as its Ontario regional manager, effective Nov. 1, 2005. She is responsible for Kernaghan Adjuster’s claims services in Ontario.
Spencer, who has more than 25 years of industry experience, has held several management positions and is licensed as an all-lines adjuster. Her experiences include assisting in the closing stages of two major insurance companies and the training and mentoring of new adjusters. She is a certified mediator, having completed the University of Toronto’s ADR Certificate program.
“Yvonne has an exceptional reputation for her knowledge and her quality claims service,” Kernaghan Adjusters President and CEO Patti Kernaghan said in a press release. “Her exemplary leadership abilities, great interpersonal skills and a passion for the industry are critical ingredients for our Ontario operations.”
