Independent insurance brokers representing The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company will have the opportunity to meet the flammable-liquid-detecting dog they sponsor through Ottawa Fire Services.
The Dominion signed an agreement earlier this year to sponsor the pooch in an effort to improve the city’s arson prevention and detection capabilities.
Fiesta, the black lab, sniffs out fire accelerants and assists fire investigators in detecting cases where a fire has been deliberately set using flammable liquids.
“Reducing the incidence of arson will benefit the community, particularly insurance consumers,” said Dominion of Canada president and CEO George Cooke.

SCOR executives announced the creation of SCOR Global Life following the company’s acquisition of Revios.
Organized around four geographical business units, SCOR Global Life will be based in France, Germany, the United States and England. Uwe Eymer will serve as CEO and Marc Archambault takes charge of the Canadian market.
Cross-sector functions of the organization include: technical, actuarial, research and development and life underwriting functions; risk management; and finance and accounting.
In the wake of the acquisition, the SCOR group’s portfolio will be rebalanced between life business (60%) and property and casualty business (40%).
