IBC’s unique driver distraction simulator, D.U.M.B.Car (Distractions Undermining Motorist Behaviour) will provide a reality check for Canadian at Canadian International AutoShow.
Driver distraction has become one of the most serious road safety issues in Canada today. According to a recent poll commissioned by Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), 89% of Canadians agree that driver distraction is a problem, yet the majority of drivers are reluctant to change their driving habits. The D.U.M.B. Car is a driving simulator that tests driver reactions to such common distractions as cellphones, CDs, iPods, and eating and drinking while behind the wheel. It is an integral part of “What Are You Doing Behind The Wheel?” a multi-faceted public education campaign launched by IBC to help generate widespread awareness about the dangers of driving while distracted and to encourage drivers to change their driving habits.
