The 2008 edition of the Ontario General Insurance Hockey Tournament will run Apr. 18-20, 2008 in Fort Erie/Welland, with proceeds going towards Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
Big Brothers and Big Sisters [B.B.B.S] operate Camp McGovern, a camp established in 1971 for youth involved in B.B.B.S. programs across Ontario.
In 2007, the hockey tournament raised Cdn$30,000.00 for this charity.
“Without the help of the General Insurance Industry, Restoration Companies, The Body Shop Industry and many other affiliated groups, along with the 40 teams that participated [in the 2007 tournament], we could not have raised such needed dollars,” tournament organizers noted in a statement.
Those wishing to enter a team in the 2008 tournament can visit www.ogihockey.com.

The Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) has made available a Compliance and Business Ethics Training Library, offering more than 50 online courses that cover a range of topics in these areas.
The Compliance and Business Ethics Training programs cover topics such as code of conduct in the workplace, information security, records management and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as well as courses on many more issues and topics.
Risk practitioners can enroll in courses at any time and receive a certificate upon completion.
Courses were created with the United States legal standards in mind and companies outside the United States are advised to check if the courses are applicable.
More information on the Compliance and Business Ethics Training Program and a complete list of RIMS online courses are available at www.RIMS.org/onlinecourses.
“The Compliance and Business Ethics Training courses are being offered to RIMS members to be used as a preventative measure against costly claims resulting from non-compliance,” says Janet Barnes, ARM, a member of RIMS’ board of directors and risk manager for Snohomish County Public Utility District No.1.
