Aviva has sold its general insurance business in Asia to Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance in a cash transaction valued at 249 million pounds (Cdn$570 million). Aviva says it intends to focus on its long-term savings business in the region.

The first ever McGannon Foundation 5 km “Fun Run” is set for Sunday, October 3, as part of the RIMS Canada Conference in Winnipeg, MB. The run is to benefit the William H. McGannon Foundation for Advanced Risk Management (McFarm), which provides scholarship funds to students in risk management-related programs. For just $20, walkers, joggers and runners, and even crawlers, will receive a souvenir FM Global t-shirt and race kit, as well as a tax deductible receipt. Toronto-based The Innovation Group has named Tony V. Novielli as vice president of business development in its technology solutions division. Novielli has more than 22 years insurance and financial services industry experience, including with American Management Systems,.Xerox and NCR.
