Tropical storm Cristobal is expected to dump between 50mm and 100 mm of rain on parts of Nova Scotia on July 22.
The storm is approaching Nova Scotia from the southwest and will pass south of the province on Tuesday night, according to an Environment Canada warning.
The rain, which will be heavy at times, is expected to remain in the southern and eastern areas of Nova Scotia, the warning reads.
“Some parts of Shelburne and Queens County have already received amounts more than 50 mm since early (Tuesday) morning, with Cape Sable Island receiving well over 100 mm so far,” according to the warning.
The rain is expected to taper to scattered showers over southwestern Nova Scotia throughout the afternoon of July 22, but will persist over eastern mainland Nova Scotia and Cape Breton until later Tuesday evening.
“At the end of the day I think it’s going to be a very rainy day, and that should be about it,” meteorologist Bob Robichaud told The Canadian Press. “You’re probably not looking at much in the way of flooding, but that’s not out of the question, especially in southwestern Nova Scotia.”

Collision Solutions Network (CSN) has expanded with three additional facilities in Ontario.
This latest expansion increases the network to 58 members across the country.
Precision Auto Refinishing in Uxbridge, Blue Mountain Collision in Clarksburg and Lakeshore Auto Body in Port Hope have all joined CSN.
“We felt it was necessary to expand our network in Ontario to better serve our insurance partners,” Larry French, director of CSN’s operations, said in a release. “We want controlled growth and place our members through a qualification process before membership is granted.”
