The Autorit des marchs financiers (AMF) has issued Cdn$2,500 penalties against Gravel, David, Rouleau & associs inc. and R.W. Mills inc.
Gravel, David, Rouleau & associs failed to ensure that one of its representatives had their claims adjuster certification properly reinstated, the AMF says. This is in violation of s. 85 of the act respecting the distribution of financial products and services, the regulator says.
AMF ordered brokerage firm R.W. Mills to pay the penalty because R.W. Mills, the regulator maintained, “allowed a staff member to carry out activities reserved for holders of a certificate issued by the AMF or persons with acquired rights, thereby violating section 86 of the Distribution Act.”

With fall just around the corner and temperatures dropping, the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) donated 50 of its magenta fleece blankets to the Toronto YWCA.
Earlier this summer, IBAO donated its fleece blankets to other women’s centres, including Toronto-based Nellie’s Shelter and Ottawa-based Amethyst Women’s Addiction Centre, a release says.
The donation was made in conjunction with an IBAO consumer awareness day held at the corner of Yonge and Eglinton Streets.
“While coordinating our awareness efforts for My Insurance Shopper, we thought, ‘Why not use this opportunity to give back to the community and create awareness for worthy local causes?'” says IBAO CEO Randy Carroll. “The YWCA was a perfect fit.”
