No processing issues have arisen after five weeks of active participation in the Health Claims for Auto Insurance (HCAI) pilot phase.
Two insurers, Gore Mutual and State Farm Mutual Auto, and nine health care facilities began their participation in this voluntary phase on Sept. 28, 2009.
By the end of November 2009, a total of 11 insurers — including Aviva Group of Companies and Dominion of Canada — representing more than 25% of the Ontario automobile insurance market, will be participating.
The number of participating facilities increased to 87 as of the end of October, with a further 56 confirmed to begin participation during November.
Insurers are invited to join the pilot or to pre-register for enrolment in March 2010 by completing enrolment forms found at www.hcaiinfo.ca.

The number of Canadians ‘very concerned’ about their online security has declined 13% from 2003 to 34%, according to a recent Ipsos Reid poll.
But, those online Canadians who state they are ‘somewhat concerned’ increased by 11%.
The overall level of concern remains consistent with 2003, the poll found.
Online Canadians aged 35 and older are significantly more likely to be concerned with online security (82%).
In comparison, only 72% of those aged 18 to 34 state that they are concerned.
Concern also declines as household income increases.
“A shift in attitudes has occurred in the last six years with respect to online security,” said study author Mark Laver.
“As more Canadians bank online, pay bills and purchase products and services online, users clearly see the Internet as being more secure. As such, their corresponding level of concern has declined.”
