William J. Sutton & Co., along with Gerber Life Insurance Co., are pleased to announce a new term life product specially designed for Canadian expatriates and Canadian residents with extensive international travel exposure.
“International travel and worldwide residency have posed some very difficult challenges to the life insurance industry in recent years,” according to a press release from William J. Sutton & Co, which has been underwriting specialty accident, life, & health risks since 1978. “As reinsurance capacity shrinks in the domestic markets, traditional life insurers have become increasingly less tolerant of even small levels of international travel exposure.
“In light of the ever-expanding global economy and the corresponding need to provide life insurance to Canadians and international employees of Canadian companies, Sutton & Co. has developed a product that provides coverage accommodating such international travel exposure. Continuation of coverage and premiums are subject to annual review.”
Initially providing products and services to respond to the unique needs of professional athletes and teams, Sutton & Co. has evolved into a diversified special risk underwriter in the lines of expatriate benefit packages, major medical, high limit disability, group & individual AD&D, war risk, and kidnap and ransom.
Greg Sutton, executive vice president, remarked: “Canadians are well respected in the international business community. We are excited to be able to provide life insurance when their opportunities take them out of Canada for extended periods of time.”
Gerber Life Insurance Co. has been writing life insurance since 1967. Today it is licensed to provide life insurance throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, with over $27 billion in force. With $1 billion of assets under management, Gerber Life is conservatively managed to ensure long-term growth and financial stability.
