XL Catlin brand launches, global marketing campaign set to begin

XL Group plc and Catlin Group Limited have launched a new brand, XL Catlin, effective Monday.

A new global marketing campaign – Insurance for a Bold New World – reflecting the “greater scale, ambition and opportunity for the combined company to develop innovative risk solutions for complex risk problems” will launch on Tuesday. The announcement comes on the heels of the completion of XL Group’s acquisition of Bermuda-based Catlin Group on Friday.

“After nearly two years of discussions, and several months of intense planning, we are extremely pleased to officially be one company,” said XL Catlin’s CEO Mike McGavick, in a press release on Friday. “Starting today, we are a larger, stronger, more capable firm, with a leading presence in the global specialty insurance and reinsurance markets. Most importantly, with our combined talent and expertise we are now in an incredible position to better assist clients in solving the world’s most complex risks.”

As of Monday, XL’s insurance and reinsurance operations will use the brand name XL Catlin and the parent company will remain XL Group plc.

“As risks are changing very fast and innovation becomes the most important skill, our new brand reflects our aspiration and what we believe is the real opportunity for XL Catlin to truly break new ground in our sector,” McGavick said in a statement on Monday.

“Our new brand and marketing campaign assumes features of both XL and Catlin’s personalities and our collective history as innovators,” added XL Catlin chief communications & marketing officer Elliott Bundy.

The new XL Catlin brand launched on Monday in various business publications, insurance trade journals, online networks, and in placements at major transportation hubs such as London’s Liverpool Street Underground Station, and Frankfurt, Paris Charles De Gaulle, Zurich and Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airports.

The XL Catlin insurance companies offer property, casualty, professional, financial lines and specialty insurance products globally. The XL Catlin reinsurance companies will offer products that include aerospace, property, casualty, marine and specialty.
