Travelers Canada has launched a new suite of services extending beyond insurance for small business customers.

Legal assistance and human resources services will now be offered, at no extra cost, to help small business owners manage day-to-day activities fundamental to their growth and success, Travelers Canada said in a press release late last week.

The new services and solutions include:

  • Business legal telephone assistance – In-house attorney support on issues such as rental agreements, contracts, real estate and consumer law.
  • Designated human resources assistance – Professional support for human resources issues, including hiring, absences/leaves, safety, discrimination, immigration, labour matters, benefits and temporary employees.
  • Emotional support assistance – Professional counsellors to provide confidential emotional support for issues related to home, work, trauma, grief and other personal or business hardships.

Erica Glendinning, vice president of business insurance at Travelers Canada, noted in the release that small business owners typically have limited resources to manage the different challenges that they face each day. A Travelers spokesperson told Canadian Underwriter Tuesday that they are focused on ease of doing business, and saw an opportunity to add value and support to small business customers.

The suite of services complements all of Travelers’ small business P&C customers, particularly Select Plus and Select Express insureds. The offering has been available in all provinces for Select P&C customers effective June 4.

The services will be provided to Travelers Canada small business customers through Assistenza, a company that has delivered assistance services for the personal and commercial industry for more than 25 years. Services will be available in English and French, as well as other languages upon request.
