BrokerLink has made its third acquisition in May with the purchase of Alberta independent insurance brokerage Thomson Schindle Green Insurance & Financial Services Ltd. (TSG).

With branches in Medicine Hat, Calgary, Brooks, Bassano and Edmonton, TSG has been providing insurance services in southern Alberta since 1985. It offers personal and commercial lines as well as a tailored insurance product called “legends collector vehicle insurance,” dedicated to owners of custom, exotic or antique vehicles.

BrokerLink president Joe D’Annunzio said in a press release Wednesday that the acquisition allows BrokerLink to grow its presence in southern Alberta. “Not only will we be increasing our service in Medicine Hat, Calgary and Edmonton, but we will now be able to serve customers in Brooks and Bassano, where we plan to build meaningful, long-lasting relationships.”

The transaction was effective May 1, said BrokerLink, one of Canada’s largest property and casualty insurance brokerages. BrokerLink companies are subsidiaries of Intact Financial Corporation.

TSG president Ken Shindle, vice president Stuart Green and the insurance professionals at the smaller brokerage will join the BrokerLink team.

Also effective May 1, BrokerLink acquired the Athabasca, Alta. branch of JDR Insurance and Guelph, Ont.-based Amplex Insurance Brokers Ltd.

JDR Insurance – Athabasca is a division of Tailor Made Insurance Services, a family owned and operated general brokerage servicing Sherwood Park, Alta. and area since 1993. Tailor Made specializes in farm insurance products, but also offers home, auto, commercial, recreational, boat and motorcycles, and travel insurance.

Amplex Insurance Brokers is a general insurance brokerage offering personal and commercial lines, including auto, home, tenant, cargo, motorcycle and trucking. It has been in business since 1980.

  1. Rick says:

Intact needs to be reigned in. We need competition – isn’tthatvwhat Intact said? Why is it okay for Intact to criticize public car insurance monopolies on one hand while they keep buying up insurance companies on the other? I can’t stand hypocrisy.
