Hub acquires personal and commercial lines brokerage in Alberta

Hub International announced Tuesday it has acquired Del Fisher Insurance, an independent brokerage offering personal and commercial lines.

Based in Calgary, Del Fisher Insurance has provided personal and commercial insurance solutions, including home, auto, business and contract bonding to area residents and businesses since 1981. The brokerage represents 18 insurers.

Jeff Alderman, office manager/partner of Del Fisher Insurance, will join Hub International Barton Limited as a member of the Prairie Arctic leadership team, Chicago-headquartered Hub said in a press release. John Dewit, president/partner of the brokerage, and L.M. (Mike Santiago), vice president/partner, will be retiring.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Hub provides property and casualty, life and health, employee benefits, investment and risk management products and services. The global brokerage has acquired a number of brokerages and employee benefits firms recently, including:

  • Firstbrook Pointon Benefits on Feb. 12, a Toronto-based full-service employee benefits consulting firm offering a broad spectrum of benefits programs, including health and performance, benefits plan consulting, group retirement services, executive benefits and disability management
  • Montreal-based Forum Risques et Assurance on Jan. 10, a boutique insurance brokerage and risk management firm. The brokerage is known for its “creative solutions and expertise in high-risk industries, such as technology, manufacturing and construction,” Hub said at the time
  • Kuokoa Enterprises Inc. on Nov. 8, 2018. Based in Edmonton, Kuokoa Enterprises specializes in commercial lines.
