For health reasons, the president of Groupe Promutuel is stepping down. Mario Fortier has been with the board of directors and executive since 1992, named vice president in 1993, and in 1998 moving into the president’s role.
Groupe Promutuel is currently accepting applications from its 34 mutual insurer members to fill the role, which will be considered at a special general meeting on July 14. The role will be filled immediately after the meeting.
Group Promutuel vice president Adrien Viens is assuming the president’s duties in the interim.
In thanking Fortier for his service, the group notes, “Under his leadership, Groupe Promutuel’s sales grew from $148 million to $412 million. The number of member-policyholders also increased significantly, from 300,000 to nearly 500,000. Mr. Fortier, for a good number of years, dedicated himself to defending the interests of mutual companies, which salute him for his staunch support.”
Groupe Promutuel is formed by member mutual insurers, and is the fifth largest casualty writer in Quebec.
