Chubb Insurance Co. of Canada has appointed Paul Morrissette as manager of its personal insurance, Canadian zone. He has 15 years of insurance industry experience, all with Chubb, most recently as vice president of Chubb Personal Insurance in New Jersey. Morrissette replaces Susan Vella, who has moved to Chubb’s U.S. operations.

Facility Association CEO David Simpson has been named this year’s Greater Toronto Area Fellow of Distinction by the CIP Society. Simpson has served the insurance industry for more than ten years, including two terms as president of the Insurance Institute of Ontario (IIO) , and on committees of the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO). Simpson will receive the honor at the CIP Society’s New Fellows Reception, scheduled for January 20 at Toronto’s Albany Club.
The Insurance Corp. of B.C. has reached an agreement with its 4,200 unionized employees, retroactive to July 1, 2003, and extending until June 30, 2006. The employees had been working with no contract in place sicne mid-2003, and the current agreement was the result of work with a mediator. Among the new terms of the agreement between ICBC and the union are employee bonus awards for achieving corporate performance targets, and the potential for ICBC to extend its hours of service. There is no change in base rates of pay.
