After 15 years in the role, Gore Mutual’s president and chief executive officer Kevin McNeil will retire, effective June 30, the company announced Tuesday.

In line with Gore Mutual’s succession plan, the board of directors announced that Heidi Sevcik, currently vice president of claims, will become chief operating officer, reporting to McNeil, effective Feb. 17.

The board also announced its intention that Sevcik will become president and CEO, effective July 1.

“Kevin’s outstanding leadership has resulted in unprecedented growth and success at Gore Mutual,” Charles Cipolla, chair of the board at Gore Mutual commented in a statement.

“Revenues have quadrupled and our balance sheet has never been stronger. Kevin’s passion for excellence in all areas of our company and his respect for all our stakeholders has created a compassionate and customer focused culture,” he said.

“As we look toward the future, the board is confident that Heidi’s leadership skills, breadth of experience and business insight will ensure the continued success of our company.”

“I am delighted that the board has chosen Heidi as my successor,” McNeil commented in the press release. “For several years, the board has been committed to delivering a seamless and well planned CEO transition.

“Heidi has led our claims, personal insurance and commercial insurance underwriting operations. She is chair of management’s investment committee and a member of the company’s risk management and reinsurance committees. She is very well prepared for the CEO role.

“Under her leadership Gore Mutual will continue to provide excellent service to our brokers and policyholders and remain an employer of choice for our employees. With Heidi as CEO and the strength of the entire Gore Leadership Team, I am extremely confident in the future of Gore Mutual.”

“I’m honoured to have been chosen as president and CEO by our board of directors,” Sevcik added. “Kevin is an exceptional leader and mentor. Gore Mutual’s leadership team is very strong and together we will remain focused on delivering excellence in everything we do.”
