Allied World Assurance Company Holdings AG recently announced it will offer primary general liability coverage to Canadian business clients.

“The new primary general liability team will provide capacity for a wide range of business classes and will target industries including real estate, retailers, service industries, manufacturers, light/moderate chemical manufacturing and reverse flow business,” stated Zug, Switzerland-based Allied World in a release Feb. 3.

The announcement came three months after Allied World launched directors and officers’ coverage in North America and privacy breach coverage in Canada.

Last April, Allied World announced the opening of its Toronto branch office, with the appointment of Gord Kerr (pictured) as its senior vice president, chief agent and branch manager.

Kerr will oversee the underwriting team for the primary general liability product in Canada, Allied World stated Feb. 3.

“We continue to expand our product offerings in the Canadian market, with our new primary general liability product complementing our existing excess casualty coverage,” Kerr stated in the pres release. “The additional casualty layer will provide our trading partners with a more extensive solution for their clients.”

In November, Allied World North America launched Executive ForceField, a product that provides Side A directors and officers’ liability coverage, on both an excess and difference-in-conditions basis.

The ForceField product line – which include D&O liability, employment practices liability, fiduciary liability, crime coverage and kidnap & ransom/extortion – was launched in Canada in April.
