Cira Health Solutions Appoints New Medical Director

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Dec. 10, 2018 /insPRESS/ – Cira Health Solutions (Cira), a trusted national provider of independent medical assessments, is pleased to announce a new member to its executive management team with the appointment of Michael Schweigert, MD, FRCPC, P.Eng., MBA as its new Medical Director. 

Guided by a commitment to quality services, Dr. Schweigert will oversee all aspects of clinical activity at Cira. He will offer trusted insight and play a significant role in looking for new ways to offer added value in client service delivery, the claimant experience, and for Cira’s medical assessor community. He will also expand client educational resources and design clinical training programs.

Dr. Schweigert is an independent medical consultant and a specialist in Occupational Medicine as recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. His training includes a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toronto and five years of specialty training in medicine, surgery, rehabilitation, toxicology, and epidemiology. He obtained a Master of Business Administration from the University of Toronto and a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo. He has performed clinical assessments and independent medical examinations within his own independent clinical assessment practice for nearly 20 years. Moving forward, Dr. Schweigert’s IME-related services will be exclusive to Cira.

Dr. Schweigert is affiliated with an academic position at the University of Toronto in health issues related to the workplace. He has been an examiner for the Royal College in Occupational Medicine, served as the chair of the Occupational Medicine Specialty Committee, and is the founding president for the Occupational Medicine Specialty Society of Canada.
