June 14, 2019   by Envista Forensics

Toronto, ON, June 14, 2019/InsPress/ – Envista Forensics welcomes Duan van der Merwe to their Construction Claims & Course of Construction Division in Toronto. Duan joins as a Senior Consultant, where he will provide Schedule Delay & Disruption analysis, Loss of Productivity, DSU and earned value assessments, as well as Quantification of Damages following complex Course of Construction disputes and Builder’s Risk claims.

Prior to joining Envista, Duan was a Project Controls Manager for Canada’s leading rail construction specialist, PNR Railworks, where he led teams of schedulers and project controllers across various large assignments.  He also has extensive forensic experience, handling projects in heavy engineering, oil and gas- both upstream and downstream, infrastructure, building and rail.

Mr. v.d.Merwe currently holds chartered membership with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB, UK) and is in the process of completing the requirements for his Professional Engineer (Peng) certification with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).

Course of Construction (COC) risks, such as fire, lightning, flood, explosion, wind or collapse, especially on large complex losses, can trigger an increase in labour and equipment requirements, re-sequencing of work, a loss of productivity, extension of time, and delayed start up (DSU). Factors affecting productivity include acceleration, schedule compression, trade stacking, logistics, site access, among numerous others.

The Envista Forensics Course of Construction claims team provides the forensic analysis and comprehensive assessment necessary to determine how much of the claim is legitimately and reasonably related to the insurable event versus potential contributing impacts predating the event.
