Insurance Bureau of Canada Appoints Amanda Dean Vice-President, Atlantic Canada

(Halifax) — Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), the national trade association for Canada’s private home, car and business insurers, has announced the promotion and appointment of Amanda Dean as Regional Vice President, Atlantic Canada.  Ms. Dean will be responsible for IBC’s government relations activities and community and stakeholder outreach initiatives across the region.

Don Forgeron, President and CEO of IBC said, “Since Amanda joined IBC in 2006, her commitment to our industry as well as her knowledge of the Atlantic region’s issues, have allowed her to make an impressive mark within our organization. She enjoys a great deal of support from IBC’s member companies in the region.”

In her new role, Ms. Dean will lead IBC’s Atlantic government relations strategy by continuing to build and enhance the excellent relations already established with key elected officials and senior public servants.  She will work to develop and implement an effective advocacy strategy for the property and casualty insurance industry, with the goal to achieve key industry policy priorities including coordinating consumer outreach programs on injury prevention and working on adaptation to severe weather initiatives.  She will also serve as the industry’s spokesperson in the Atlantic region.

Ms. Dean holds a BPR from Mount Saint Vincent University and an MBA from Saint Mary’s University.  She has a background in communications and public relations in both the private and public sectors and has worked for both Federal and Nova Scotia Cabinet Ministers.
