Alex Boyd to lead new office in Calgary

Toronto, ON – Burns & Wilcox Canada today announced that Alex Boyd has joined the company to lead its newest office in Calgary, Alberta. An industry veteran, Mr. Boyd has more than 20 years of commercial insurance industry experience specializing in mid-market oil and gas exploration, well control and executive risk coverage.      

“With deep experience with the oil and gas sector and a focus on new business development, Alex is the perfect candidate to lead Burns & Wilcox Canada’s new Calgary office,” said Gary Hirst, National Director, Burns and Wilcox Canada. “His track record in business growth, account retention and new product development, coupled with his deep knowledge of the market, will position Burns & Wilcox Canada for success.”

Mr. Boyd comes to Burns & Wilcox Canada from Jones Brown Inc., one of Canada’s largest privately held insurance brokerages, where he was responsible for new business development. Prior to this position, Mr. Boyd was Vice-President at Marsh Canada. Mr. Boyd’s career in the insurance industry began in Vancouver with Turner Meakin/Boyd Insurance Brokers where he developed several niche liability products geared toward the entertainment industry.

Mr. Boyd has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and is currently working toward his CIP certification. He also holds a level 2 General Brokers license in Alberta and British Columbia.
