Rochon Engineering / Rochon Environmental makes senior appointments

Toronto: May 28, 2014: As part of its expansion plans, Rochon Engineering / Rochon Environmental has appointed two senior professionals to its team. Doug Tremblay, Managing Partner, announced that the firm has appointed Mark E. Samis as a Senior Environmental Consultant, and J.M. Michel (Mike) Laberge as Director of Business Development.
“These highly experienced professionals will strengthen our team and increase our geographic reach. Mark will provide expert services to clients in need of highly skilled technical environmental consulting. Mike will help us develop our brand and expand further into the environmental and insurance sectors,” Doug said.

Mark has been involved in a large range of projects and roles in the environmental industry over his 30 year career. His experience includes the senior technical and/or project management roles on numerous projects in Canada and the U.S. ranging in scope up to $10 million. His technical experience includes spill response, Phase 1, 2 and 3 environmental site assessments, site remediation planning and design, waste management/landfill investigations and design, landfill site selection, landfill gas studies, water supply investigations, environmental impact assessments for land development, peer review and subrogation support.
His managerial roles have included project management of major environmental projects, some involving multiple technical disciplines, vice president of operations which included the business development and growth of an environmental consultancy to more than $26 million in annual revenues and 40 staff, and most recently as Business Line Lead for a new emergency response offering in Canada.
Mark is experienced with environmental regulations and guidelines for drinking water, surface water, groundwater, site remediation, peer review and subrogation support, brownfield site redevelopment and waste management.
J.M. Michel (Mike) Laberge
Mike is an insurance professional with over 29 years of progressive leadership experience in claims, management, quality assurance, operations and business development, especially in the environmental sector. As an insurance executive he has provided proven solutions to the industry, resulting in a high level of trust from clients and an increased business and market share.
In addition to his industry certifications, Mike has (Honours) Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo. He will be based in Ontario and work across Canada.
