Aviva Canada makes three appointments to executive team

Bryant Vernon has been named Chief Claims Officer, Nicole Brouillard has been appointed Chief Information Officer and Michel Dionne is the new Chief Risk Officer.

Having recently moved to Canada from the United States, Vernon brings claims management experience from companies such as Liberty Mutual and Solera. Prior to joining Aviva Canada in May 2018, Vernon was Global Head of Data Science and Services at Solera where he was responsible for helping insurance carriers improve profitability.

Aviva’s new Chief Information Officer, Nicole Brouillard officially joined the Canadian leadership team in June 2018. Brouillard recently held the role of Chief Information Officer at Travelers Canada. She also held leadership roles at TD Canada Trust and Chubb. Brouillard has 20 years of experience working to deliver advanced technical and business transforming solutions to various Fortune 500 global companies.

Michel Dionne, Chief Risk Officer, Aviva Canada

Effective August 20, 2018, Michel Dionne will assume the role of Chief Risk Officer at Aviva Canada. Michel was previously Appointed Actuary at Intact Financial. Over the past 27 years Dionne held a succession of increasingly senior roles at Intact and brings a deep breadth of knowledge in reserving as well as personal and commercial lines pricing, says the company. Dionne is a Fellow and an active committee member of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and Casualty Actuarial Society.

“I’m excited to have three stellar leaders join my executive team,” says Colm Holmes, President and CEO of Aviva Canada. “Bryant, Nicole and Michel bring a tremendous amount of industry expertise and experience to these important roles.”

More new and interim appointments

In addition to the new appointments of Bryant Vernon, Nicole Brouillard and Michel Dionne, Peter Walker also joins Aviva Canada as Chief Technical Underwriter. Walker comes from an extensive insurance background, holding various roles at Zurich Insurance Group before joining Aviva Canada’s underwriting team. Walker reports directly to Phil Gibson, who has assumed the role of Chief Underwriting Officer and leading the personal lines business. Gibson joined Aviva Canada in early 2016.

On the commercial lines side, Mazdak Moini is leading Small-Medium Enterprise in the interim and John Mattioli is heading up Global Corporate and Specialty as Executive Director.

Jason Storah assumes the role of Chief Distribution Officer at Aviva Canada and Ben Isotta-Riches is now Chief Digital and Partnerships Officer. Both Colin Simpson, Chief Financial Officer, and Danny Davies, Chief People Officer, remain in their current leadership roles.
