Fort McMurray wildfire debris removal contract welcomed by insurers

Demolition workFort McMurray’s #468 First Nation has been selected by Specialized Property Evaluation Control Services to carry out the wildfire debris removal initiative said the Insurance Bureau of Canada last Friday.

The selection followed a competitive bidding process. Affected residents have a choice of hiring the insurer project management company or their own contractor to handle the removal.

“This is an important component of the recovery and rebuilding process, and insurers look forward to working with residents, the selected general contractor, Fort McMurray First Nation, and other contractors, which homeowners may choose in facilitating the timely and cost effective removal of debris,” said Bill Adams, vice-president, western and pacific, Insurance Bureau of Canada.
