In a media release, Fort president Stephan Bernatchez said he expects the strategic merger to provide growth opportunities in the Quebec, Ontario and Alberta markets.

“This partnership with ABZ will bring added strength to our business development by consolidating our P&C expertise,” he said. “We will also be in a position to provide in-house group benefits and life insurance services to the ABZ clientele.”

ABZ owners Larry Zoltak and Barry Barth welcomed the opportunity to join the Fort family.

“Stephan is as passionate as we are and focuses on service,” Zoltak said. “This should result in a dynamic environment and made our choice to join Fort an easy one.”

In business for more than 90 years, Fort now has close to 100 employees and a combined volume of $79,000,000 in premium.
