AssessMed Inc.

The Board of Directors and Senior Management team at AssessMed Inc. are excited to welcome Dr. Max Kleinman, physiatrist, to our experienced team of specialists in British Columbia.  This key addition is a crucial step towards ensuring the continued success of AssessMed in BC, and further expands our ability to provide a wide selection of high quality assessment services to a diverse and expanding client base.  As of January 2016, Dr. Kleinman will be scheduling all services, including IMEs and follow-up IMEs, through AssessMed.  Due to AssessMed’s nationwide presence, he is also available in Alberta, Ontario, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia, which allows for assessments to be booked at the location most convenient to the evaluee.

Dr. Kleinman is Medical Director for AssessMed Ontario and Maritime Provinces.  He has enjoyed an ongoing clinical practice in physiatry for over 30 years, and maintains his practice in addition to his role with AssessMed.

Dr. Kleinman has completed thousands of independent medical assessments to date in the area of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for various sources including the Defense and Plaintiff Bar, Long Term Disability Insurers, Auto Insurers, and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board among others as requested.  He has also provided opinions related to Disability Management.  When called upon, he has testified at trial and arbitration, and has been recognized by the court as an expert witness in his medical field of expertise.

Dr. Kleinman is a duly qualified medical practitioner licensed to practice Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia.  He obtained his Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 1981.  He was certified as a Diplomate by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 1982.  Dr. Kleinman is the former Head of Rehabilitation and Program Director, Rehabilitation at the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care.

Max is committed to further enhancing his qualifications within the IME sector of the medical legal community.  Says Dr. Kleinman, “Even after 25 plus years of experience completing IMEs, I still see situations I have not seen in the past.  Continuously upgrading my education allows me to provide the best possible reports in an unbiased manner using the best science, and objective, evidence-based rationale.”  To this end, he has recently been recertified as a Certified Independent Medical Examiner (CIME), issued by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME).  ABIME is a quality assurance organization, maintaining standards of conduct and performance among Independent Medical Examination (IME) physicians.

Donald Kunkel, Executive Vice President at AssessMed states, “Max is already like a part of the family at AssessMed, as many of us have known him, both personally and professionally, for well over ten years now. Max’s unwillingness to compromise on his high professional standards and his affinity for extending himself to meet and/or exceed all client expectations makes him an extremely valued addition to the team!”
