2016 Insurance-Canada.ca Technology Conference / Broker Forum

Becoming a digital insurer has become a top priority for leading Property Casualty (P&C) insurers and brokers. The keynote session at the 2016 Insurance-Canada.ca Technology Conference  / Broker Forum will bring together a leading industry expert and senior insurance executives to review new research data on the current state of digital insurance in Canada.  Practitioners will also discuss planned directions for digital transformation in the Canadian P&C industry.

In her keynote address, on February 29, 2016, Kimberly Harris-Ferrante, Vice President and Distinguished Analyst at Gartner will release results of a new survey of Canadian insurers on the progress of digital adoption. Harris-Ferrante will also define a digital insurance model and outline best practices.

Following the presentation, Harris-Ferrante will be joined by a panel of senior executive leaders who will provide insight on the drivers for digital, their expectation for digital transformation, and strategies they are following on the digital path.

The panelists are David A. Crozier, President & CEO, Everest Insurance Company of Canada, Heather Masterson, COO Travelers Canada, Elan Satov, Vice President – Digital Transformation, Aviva Canada, Matthew Yeshin, Managing Director, Marsh Canada Ltd.

Wikipedia says that ‘digital transformation’ is the final stage in embracing digital technologies, enabling “new types of innovation and creativity in a particular domain, rather than simply enhance and support the traditional methods.”

A recent report from the MIT Centre for Digital Business found that “maturing digital businesses are focused on integrating digital technologies, such as social, mobile, analytics and cloud, in the service of transforming how their businesses work.”  However, many industries – including insurance – have legacy systems, which force a mixed environment.

In addition to the Digital Transformation panel, attendees will also hear from expert practitioners and suppliers, who will be leading sessions focused on specific digital elements, methods for transitioning legacy technology, and other insurance technology topics.  All sessions are business focused.

The 2016 Insurance-Canada.ca Technology Conference, and its sister event, the 2016 Insurance-Canada.ca Broker Forum will be held in Toronto on February 29 and March 1, 2016 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.  Details can be found at www.Insurance-Canada.ca/ictc and www.Insurance-Canada.ca/icbf
