Catastrophe Response Unit Adds to Environmental Division Services

June 16, 2014   by CRU - Catastrophe Response Unit

CRU Adjusters

CRU is pleased to introduce a major addition to its Environmental Claims Division, under the leadership of Mr. Oland Robinson.  Mr. Robinson has assembled a respected team of Hazard Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) credentialed managers and adjusters, who together bring more than 300 combined years of environmental claims expertise to CRU’s existing team. This combined knowledge will insure an even more effective response to an environmental event for CRU clients anywhere in the USA or Canada.

Environmental claims are highly complex requiring unique adjusting skills as oil, gas, and petrochemical operations are diverse with unique qualities.  The sheer complexity of manufacturing, blending, and distributing chemical products is an ever increasing risk that must be met with a thorough and well architected Emergency Response Plan.   Operational demands complicated by human error or failed design can produce catastrophic commercial, residential, personal injury, and economic disasters for insurers and their clients.  The losses mandate that a well-trained adjusting team must be on-site immediately, as the event is occurring.  CRU’s Environmental Claims Division provides onsite deployment, quickly helping to reduce injury to both persons and property, and assisting the client in managing reputational risk.  If class actions are permitted or instigated, CRU’s team can effectively assist in managing, resisting and defending successfully legal actions against insurers and clients.

CRU recognizes that a well formulated Emergency Response Plan, when tested and trained, will produce a more favorable result for the chemical producer or distributor and its insurer in the face of a disaster. CRU’s Environmental Division can assist its clients by providing outside legal services, accounting analysis, safety and regulatory compliance both before, during, and after an event.

By providing an on-site audit presence, CRU can help reduce waste and unnecessary expenses that are often overlooked during the emergency response period of a major event amidst the many state, provincial, and Federal regulatory agencies that are making demands and directing actions to be taken.  CRU’s Environmental Division has the capability to effectively audit first responders, and outside contractors’ invoices for accuracy and necessity often saving millions of dollars in a major event.
