Toronto—ClaimsPro, the country’s largest independent adjusting company, has assembled its Emergency Response Teams in anticipation of the influx of claims after a severe thunderstorm rolled through the Greater Toronto Area Monday night.

The late-afternoon thunderstorm dropped a record 126-mm of rain (reported at Pearson Airport) on Toronto and surrounding areas, causing flash floods, city-wide blackouts, and major traffic delays throughout the city. Social media sites lit up with pictures of flooded highways and underpasses, cars entirely submerged in water and abandoned, storm sewer backups, and a stranded GO Train. Hydro One reported that at the height of the power outage, about 300,000 people in the west end of the Greater Toronto Area were without power due to “significant flooding” at two transmission stations[1]. At one point the entire subway system was shut down due to flooding.

“Our CAT response teams have been mobilized to assist our clients with the high volumes of claims,” shared Dan Buch, ClaimsPro’s Vice President of Eastern Ontario. “We are here to support our clients and their customers with emergency claims services.”
