CRU Adjusters Mobilizes Disaster Response for Fort McMurray Area Fires

CRU Adjusters has been engaged by four Canadian insurance companies to assist in the response to the Fort McMurray fires. As this work is our core business, CRU has mobilized more than 250 adjusters for this disaster. We have assisted companies in responding based on the expectation that every insured structure in the affected region will have a claim, although many will be limited to food loss and evacuation expenses.

As of Friday, more than 241,000 hectares of land have been decimated and thousands of structures have been affected by these wildfires. Thankfully, with the great work from our fire fighters to save the city, it appears that only 10% of structures will be total losses.

CRU has positioned their field teams in a self-contained camp approximately 20 km north of Ft. McMurray. We continue our preparation of claims with the collection of data and information prior to a physical inspection of more than 6,000 buildings needed to quantify severity and assess reserving needs.

Our Inside Support Adjusters have assembled in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Halifax to assist in providing our clients with the appropriate customer service and claims management required to help their insureds.

While first responders are sill working hard to reestablish essential services, the CRU team will stand ready to inspect damage once access to the city is permitted. We have full service operations with core management located in both Edmonton and Calgary.
