FirstOnSite Restoration supports Spirit of Newfoundland during RIMS Canada 2018 Conference

September 19, 2018   by FirstOnSite Restoration

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Sept. 19, 2018 /insPRESS/– FirstOnSite Restoration, Canada’s largest independent restoration company, has launched a fundraising campaign during the RIMS Canada 2018 Conference in St. John’s, Newfoundland to support the restoration of the iconic St. John’s Masonic Temple, now owned by and home to local performance group, Spirit of Newfoundland.

FirstOnSite, in town for the conference, has created a GoFundMe page to assist Spirit of Newfoundland with its fundraising efforts to restore the Masonic Temple to its original beauty. In its commitment to the local community, the company is asking for contributions from the industry, community and the public at large, and is offering to match donations up to $5,000.

The Masonic Temple has been a mainstay of St. John’s cityscape since its birth in 1894. The architectural gem boasts four performance rooms, a massive pipe organ, pianos in every room, numerous historic Masonic symbols and plenty of mystery and intrigue to inspire great artistic and creative thought. In addition to being home to the artist group themselves, the facility also hosts community groups, fund raisers, weddings, birthdays, and recitals.

The Spirit of Newfoundland and FirstOnSite welcome RIMS attendees and the public at large to stop by the historically significant site and explore the beautiful architecture and building. The Masonic Temple is also home to the official screech room – a partnership with the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation where guests can be “screeched-in,” and CFA (come from away) RIMS attendees can be awarded the title of “honourary Newfoundlander.”

“Assisting Spirit of Newfoundland in its efforts was an easy decision,” said Dave Demos, chief executive officer of FirstOnSite Restoration. “Our business is restoring all types of homes and businesses, including those that have historic and local significance. The opportunity to work with a group like Spirit of Newfoundland was a perfect fit.”
