IBAO’s Young Brokers Conference Prepares Brokers for Today’s Market

April 25, 2019   by Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario

TORONTO, ON, April 25, 2019 /insPRESS/ The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) is bringing together some of the broker channel’s most promising young minds for its annual Young Brokers Conference. The three-day event takes place at the Hilton Niagara Falls & Fallsview Casino Resort June 5–7.

This year’s conference focuses on equipping brokers with strategies and tactics to confront some of the challenges today’s market presents, including how to navigate a changing and hardening market. The conference includes two keynote speakers who will help brokers communicate their unique competitive advantage, effectively position insurance products in a bargain-driven economy and sharpen the way they present themselves to current and future clients.

“This conference is a great growth and professional development opportunity for young talent within the channel,” said IBAO President Jeff Gatcke. “Every year we tailor the event to help brokers with the most pressing challenges they face—this year is no different. Current market conditions require brokers to truly understand the value of insurance beyond price. Young brokers who can be successful in this way will have higher retention in the future.”

Replacing previous year’s case study competitions, brokers will square off in an all-new Pitch to Win competition, with a chance to win up to $5,000 in cash prizes provided by Trillium Mutual. Brokers will learn proven strategies from expert brokers in Personal & Commercial Lines, meet potential clients and prepare pitches to win the business.

“The competition is always a valuable experience,” said YBC President Geoff Keyes. “This year smaller groups and a more compressed format will give everyone a chance to contribute based on their individual skillset. What they’ll learn from keynotes, other successful brokers and each other will provide practical approaches to use in the day-to-day at their brokerage.”

A second addition to this year’s conference are two Executive Panels – Surviving the Hard Market as a Young Broker and Driving Innovation in a Traditional Industry. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain valuable insights from leading insurer executives across Ontario.

The conference features an Opening Night Party sponsored by Travelers Canada and a Tradeshow & Hospitality Night where brokers can meet contacts from over 30 insurers and industry partners.

Registration is available online at ibao.org/ybc. Brokers can take advantage of early bird pricing until May 15th. Returning attendees can save an additional 10% by recruiting a first-timer to attend.
