EDMONTON, Alberta – Peace Hills Insurance (PHI) is pleased to announce they have closed all Slave Lake, Alberta claims, becoming one of the first insurance companies to settle all claims from the Slave Lake wildfire of 2011.

“We are pleased and proud to announce we have finalized all our Slave Lake losses,” said Diane Brickner, President and CEO of PHI. “Our staff worked diligently to close files to ensure life would go back to normal as quickly as possible for everyone affected.”

Handling all of the claims from the tragic event in May 2011 was no small feat. Roughly one-third of Slave Lake was left in ruins, with approximately ten percent of the town’s residents left homeless. PHI hired environmental consultants for extensive soil testing and removal of all contaminated soil before rebuilding. Environmental and cost consultants worked closely with PHI and their clients to determine the most accurate replacement costs in line with PHI’s Guaranteed Replacement Cost policy.

PHI is a licensed, general insurance company, which has been insuring Western Canadians since 1982. Committed to exceptional claims service, PHI is dedicated to providing courteous and efficient service. PHI employs over 190 employees who serve over 478 broker offices across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon Territory.
