RSA appoints new Chief Actuary – Jacqueline Friedland joins RSA to lead actuarial team

March 6, 2014 – RSA Insurance today announced the appointment of Jacqueline Friedland as the organization’s new Chief Actuary.

Jacqueline joins RSA from KPMG, where she was most recently a Partner and leader of the P&C Actuarial Practice in Canada. Jacqueline brings extensive experience, both in and out of Canada, and is at the forefront of P&C actuarial developments internationally.

As an actuarial consultant for more than 25 years, working in Canada, the U.S., and South Africa, Jacqueline has provided a wide range of services including Appointed Actuary and peer review services, premium rating, pricing and other analyses, as well as due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. In the past five years, Jacqueline has led numerous, large-scale engagements on behalf of insurance industry organizations that resulted in an extensive list of reports and textbooks, including the recently-released Research Paper on Water Damage Risk and Canadian Property Pricing on behalf of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA).

Jacqueline is an extremely active volunteer in actuarial organizations including the CIA, CAS, SOA, and International Actuarial Association (IAA) as well as the IBC. Her primary focus has been in the areas of education and professionalism. She has been actively involved in the development of international actuarial standards of practice and responding to the IASB’s proposals for international financial reporting standards for insurance. Jacqueline received her BBA from the University of Georgia. She is a Fellow of the CIA, the CAS, and the SOA and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
