SCM Health Solutions’ Medical Director Dr. Avi Orner Appointed President of Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators

SCM Health Solutions, a market leader in Independent Medical Examinations and Occupational Health Services, is pleased to congratulate its Medical Director, Dr. Avi Orner, on his recent appointment as President of The Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators (CSME).
As Medical Director for SCM Health Solutions, Dr. Orner maintains oversight of the national clinical assessor team and end-to-end clinical quality for all services. He oversees compliance, customer satisfaction and auditing processes. He has been with SCM Health Solutions and its predecessor organizations since 2010 and has been an active member of CSME’s Board of Directors serving on its educational and business planning committees. He currently holds Certified Independent Medical Examiner (CIME) status from the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (AMA Guides 4th and 6th editions).
The Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators is the leading national organization of professionals involved in independent medical and medicolegal evaluations. Founded in 1996, CSME serves Canadian physicians and other healthcare professionals in performing evaluations that rely on evidence-based medicine, best medical practices, and professional practice guidelines. Members are drawn from the healthcare and medicolegal professions and also include members from the case-management, rehabilitation, and insurance sectors.
As President of CSME, Dr. Orner will endeavor to further CSME’s established objective of advancing the standards and training of all independent medical professionals in order to meet the continuously evolving demands and expectations of industry stakeholders across Canada.

Dr. Orner completed his medical education including residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Toronto and continues to hold staff privileges at The Scarborough Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Orner graduated as a Bregman’s Scholar from the MBA program at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, specializing in finance and consulting. In addition, he holds a BA (Honours) in Actuarial Mathematics from York University.
