ServiceMaster Restore of Niagara Takes Living Wage Pledge

May 29, 2019   by ServiceMaster of Canada Limited

MISSISSAUGA, ON, May 29th, 2019/InsPress/ – Congratulations to ServiceMaster Restore of Niagara, the 20th certified Living Wage employer in the Niagara region.

Across the province of Ontario, 22 communities are part of the Living Wage Network. A living wage is a voluntary commitment that employers can make to compensate full and part time staff and reflects what earners need to be paid based on the actual costs of living and being included in the community. It looks at the needs of a typical family of four with two working adults and takes into account the cost of food, clothing, shelter, child care, recreation, transit and a modest vacation.

Based in St Catharines, ServiceMaster Restore of Niagara currently employs 14 full-time and six part-time staff. “As three young owners who have come up through the ranks in the restoration and construction industry, we understand the importance of earning enough to get by,” says co-owner Justin Callon. “Providing a living wage is a huge part of attracting and retaining quality staff. Good employees are a company’s biggest asset, and by paying them fairly we show our respect and appreciation to the people who make our business possible.”

Callon also notes that providing a living wage is a huge part of attracting and keeping quality employees. “We are in the homes of families during times of distress, so having a team that we can depend on to provide the compassion and level of service we require is of the utmost importance to us.”
