ServiceMaster Restore of Oakville Raises the Roof and $5,000 in Support of Habitat for Humanity

ServiceMaster Restore of Oakville firmly believes that they don’t just work in the community, they work with the community. So on a chilly day in September, owner Bill Calhoun and his staff laced up their steel-toed boots, grabbed their hard hats and headed to Milton, Ontario in support of Habitat for Humanity.

They weren’t there for emergency restoration services but to lend a hand in building a two-unit semi-detached house on Bronte Street South. When completed, this will be home for two hardworking families who were in need of a chance to own their first home, build equity for the future and escape poverty. 

 

The ServiceMaster Restore crew not only built and raised a roof over the porch and excavated the basement; they also donated $5,000 to Habitat for Humanity from funds raised at two events. The first was a Continuing Education seminar followed by a Friends and Family Day at Ripley’s Aquarium in downtown Toronto. The fundraisers led up to the Corporate Build Day on September 30, 2015.

With every board that was cut and every nail that was hammered the construction team and administrative staff forged a strong connection with the project. They are all looking forward to the day when the two families get the keys to their new home.
