Starlight Children’s Foundation, 22nd Annual Starlight Insurance Gala, April 23, 2016

Canada’s insurance community raised more than $250,000 for Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada at the 22nd Annual ‘Best Exotic’ Starlight Insurance Gala, held April 23 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada is dedicated to helping seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities. Starlight’s programs are designed to distract children from their pain, help them better understand and manage their illnesses and connect families facing similar challenges so that no one feels alone. 2016 Starlight Insurance Charity Gala co-chairs, Sara Runnalls and Karen Akeson, say that in the event’s 22 years, it has donated more than $4 million to Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada, fulfilled over 1,000 wishes, placed 100 Fun Centers in hospitals across Canada, and brought thousands of smiles to the faces of seriously ill children.
