This month, APRIL Canada, the largest independent MGA in Canada, revealed that it was re-organising its senior management to enable a more regional focus across Canada. “We have been doing a lot of thinking across our business.” states Nick Kidd CEO APRIL Canada, “ This has lead to some subtle but important changes. Across the country we recognize that the market is different, as are our various challenges, opportunities and strategies. For example, as a market leader in Quebec, our strategy in supporting our brokers is very different to Western Canada where we are building from a smaller scale”.
“In order to ensure we can achieve these strategies, take the right decisions quickly, and support our brokers in the best way possible across Canada, we have decided to implement regional teams with accountability for providing day to day service, underwriting, and develop partnerships with our brokers in each part of Canada”.

Kent Pitkin will become our VP for Ontario . Kent has been with APRIL for two years now, leading our Commercial Lines operations across Canada and brings a highly solution oriented and partnership-based approach to our business. Kent is directly responsible to our broker partners in Ontario, in helping them find solutions to win and retain their clients.
Russel Morrison will become our VP for Western Canada with overall responsibility for supporting our broker partners in this region. Russel is one of the founding fathers of APRIL in Canada, with a huge depth of experience in the MGA market, having founded and led Canada Worldwide in 1995 which was acquired by APRIL in 2008.
Sebastien Gabez will become our VP for Quebec and Atlantic Canada, in charge of supporting our broker partners in this region and our Commercial Lines operations. Patricia Desjardins will also continue to report directly to me as our Director of Transport, Auto and Personal Lines. Both Sebastien and Patricia have operated as senior Executives at APRIL and demonstrated their highly broker focused and solution oriented approach, which is the DNA of our business.
In unison with this change, we also opened up our new office in Calgary during April – taking a bigger and brighter space to reflect our ambitions and strong intentions in the West. We also have four new underwriters joining our business at the start of May and I’m so excited to welcome them on board. We’re always looking for talented people who know how to put brokers first.”
