WICC prepares to rally the Relay For Life troops at its annual gala

TORONTO/CNW/ – Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC) is proud to support the Canadian Cancer Society’s 2017 Relay For Life event in Toronto on June 16 at Downsview Park from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Prior to the Relay, WICC will host its annual gala. The gala takes places on April 12, 2017 at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto.

“We’re excited to build anticipation for this year’s bigger and better Relay For Life, as many of the gala attendees are returning Relay participants,” said Shari Dodsworth, WICC Chair, Relay For Life. “This gives us a chance to remind everyone what a great event Relay For Life is and what we’re all fighting for.”

Insurance company staff from across the city will be attending the disco-themed gala. They can look forward to not only the silent auction, but to potentially seeing their smiling faces on screen in the 2016 Relay For Life video. The video is set to inspire those who will be participating in the Relay this year.

“WICC and the insurance industry continue to make a significant impact in cancer research by not only participating in the Relay, but by sharing the Canadian Cancer Society’s message through other initiatives such as the gala,” said Susan Drodge, Director, Corporate and Community Partnerships and Donor Services, Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario. “It’s a great opportunity to motivate people and remind them that they can make a difference.”

A Relay For Life booth will be set up at the event so attendees can learn more about how they can help fight against cancer. Having supported Relay For Life for the last eight years, WICC is dedicated to making yet another powerful impact through this year’s event, aiming to beat the impressive $470,000 it raised last year.

Donations make it possible for the Canadian Cancer Society to fund ground-breaking breast, prostate and general cancer research. More families can receive the support they need and more lives can be saved.
