The appointment took effect Friday.

Toronto-based MSA’s reports include financial information on most of Canada’s property and casualty insurers.

In addition to joining MSA, Horrick is also chief operating officer for Northwind Professional Institute, an MSA sister firm.  Northwind provides “off-the-record” forums for senior executives in different industries.

For both Northwind and MSA, Horrick will be responsible for strategy execution, marketing and sales and growth initiatives, MSA said in a release.

Horrick has more than 25 years’ experience in the property and casualty insurance sector, most recently as national vice president of the Guarantee Gold, which is the Guarantee Company’s personal insurance product line targeting wealthy consumers.

She previously worked in Canada for Zurich and Chubb.

Horrick is a director on the Ontario board of the Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade.

Horrick served as moderator at the Property Casualty Underwriters Club CEO Luncheon this past June in Toronto.

Speaking on that panel were Intact Canadian operations president Louis Gagnon, XL Catlin Canada CEO Urs Uhlmann and Adam Mitchell, principal of Mitchell & Whale Insurance Brokers Ltd.

Horrick has a bachelor’s degree from Montreal’s Concordia University.

Horrick will “play an important role” in the expansion of MSA Research, MSA CEO Joel Baker stated.

Another MSA sister company is Catastrophe Indices and Quantification Inc. (CatIQ), which provides estimates of insured losses from disasters. MSA also produces events including the National Insurance Conference of Canada and the International Cyber Risk Management Conference.
