Sorema N.A. recently celebrated the retirement of its Canadian chief agent Angus Ross (pictured, right) and the appointed of his successor, Francois Dagneau (left). Ross leaves the industry after more than 35 years, including 8 years with Sorema. Prior to becoming chief agent, Dagneau served as senior vice president for Sorema.

Claude Smith has been appointed vice president and chief financial officer of Kingsway General Insurance Company, the largest subsidiary of Kingsway Financial Holdings. Smith has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, as well as being a chartered accountant with an MBA from Wilfred Laurier University.

CCR France has named Andre Fredette as senior vice president and general manager for its Canadian branch operations. Fredette has over 25 years experience in the Canadian reinsurance business, including positions with Mercantile and General Re, Swiss Re and CNA Re.

The Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) has promoted Tracey Blouin to the position of field manager for Canada. She brings more than 10 years experience with I-CAR to the position, and will continue to be based in the Toronto area.

Insurance litigators Dutton, Brock, MacIntyre & Collier have named Philippa G. Samworth and Mark K. Donaldson as partners and Deborah G. Neilson, Sharon C. Dagan and Jennifer J. Earle as associates at the firm. They will continue their work in accident benefits litigation as DBM&C’s Accident Benefit Practice Group.

Michael Butler has joined Discount Car & Truck Rentals as business development manager, insurance brokers and industry. Butler comes to the position with 12 years industry experience.

St. Paul Canada has announced the appointment of Al Kiers as assistant vice president, central region, covering Ontario. Kiers has over 20 years experience in the Canadian market, including 11 years at GAN Canada, prior to joining St. Paul.

The board of directors of Queensway Financial Holdings has appointed Harold J. Meloche as chief financial officer. Prior to joining Queensway, Meloche served as treasurer for North Point Financial Services Inc. and audit manager with the financial services division of Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP.
