CGU Canada is making several organizational changes effective June 1, including the appointment of Igal Mayer as president and CEO of CGU Canada. He was formerly finance director for Norwich Union Insurance and replaces Mark Webb. Webb has been named managing director Europe for CGNU. Richard Harvey will become group chief executive for CGNU, effective April 24 when Bob Scott reitres from the board at the company’s annual general meeting.

The Canadian Association of Insurance Women’s president for the 2000-2001 term is Louise Morel, co-owner of LaFleche ET Morel Inc. insurance adjusters. She has been a member of the CAIW through its Montreal chapter since 1985.

CNA Canadian operations has appointed Denis Dei Cont as assistant vice president, Ontario regional underwriting manager. With over 20 years of insurance industry experience, his most recent position was marketing coordinator for Gerling Canada.

Matthew Spensieri has joined General Cologne Re as vice president, portfolio/ treaty account executive in the Canadian segment of its specialty market business unit. Spensieri has more than 25 years in the insurance business, beginning his career with Marsh & McLennan in 1974.

William (Bill) T. Breckles has been named executive vice president, insurance operations for The Citadel General Assurance Company. He brings 20 years experience in the insurance industry to the position and will lead the expansion of the company’s commercial lines and accident and sickness business.
