The Insurance Corp. of B.C. (ICBC) has hired firm Ray & Berndtson Tanton Mitchell to find its new CEO following the announcement that Nick Geer will vacate the position. Geer joined ICBC as chair in 2001 and took over as interim CEO in 2002. Geer leaves the position at the end of June, to be replaced on an interim basis by COO Bill Goble.

For health reasons, Groupe Promutuel president Mario Fortier is stepping down, after 12 years with the mutual insurer organization. Groupe Promutuel vice president Adrien Viens takes over until a successor is named at a July 14 meeting.

The Independent Insurance Brokers Association of Alberta (IIBAA) have elevated the title of executive director Harold Baker to that of CEO, in keeping with similar changes at other broker associations. The change also represents Baker’s many years of service to the province’s brokers, which was recognized with the presentation of a gold “BIP” pin.

Axel P. Lehmann has been named the new CEO of Zurich North America Commercial, although he will not assume that role until September. Lehmann replaces John Amore, who has been named CEO of general insurance for Zurich. Lehmann has been with Zurich since 1996, most recently as CEO of the continental Europe business division.
